Playa Caribe, Condo #3

This condo makes it feel like you're living on the edge of the beach. Super easy access to the pool and a deck that opens onto it, makes it feel like it's your own. In fact, it was easy to forget sometimes that other people were staying there. The concierge team is fantastic and very helpful. We felt safe, comfortable and fully at ease. Add to that a 5 minute walk to Happy Hour and you've got yourself a recipe for a great vacation.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Playa Carib. The staff were friendly and helpful, cleaning service each day and the concierge gave great recommendations. Just to note, no washer/dryer, also good to get your groceries in Playa before you arrive. Will return again!

Playa Caribe is a lovely condo residence in a good location in Akumal. We stayed in Condo #3. It was clean, well maintained, the beds were comfortable. It however, has it's door to the beach directly in front of the other guest's area and was often noisy and occupied when we got out for the day. There was also a good bit of noise coming from the front . Other than this, it was a nice place to spend Christmas with my adult kids!

This condo was the best location for the things we came to enjoy. Patio was right in front of the pool and few steps from the beach. We snorkeled every day and enjoyed the outdoor patio for meals. Inside the kitchen was well equipped and we saved money by cooking most days. We would come back again. The only negative would be that the condo was a little musty smelling when we first arrived. Although the condo has air conditioning we preferred opening the patio screens and that seemed to take away the musty smell.

Our overall experience was great. Ideal for a family. We did share with friends, so I did find the shutters enclosing the main bedroom a little too exposed for my preference. But the entire suite was extremely clean, comfortable beds, lots of nice towels and a great blender in the kitchen. I recommend the grocery service. The pool was a nice touch- and clean. We would recommend!

We were very pleased with our ground floor rental at Playa Caribe! The condo was very clean and well stocked. It was the perfect set up for our family of five. We loved waking up to spectacular sunrises with the gorgeous view. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and on the beach just steps from our door. Akumal is truly a place of magic. The people at the property are very friendly and responsive to our needs. The location is wonderful with so much to do in walking distance. We had breakfast at the Turtle Bay Cafe, we enjoyed dinner outside by the sea at Buena Vida. We had a wonderful day that started with breakfast at the Jungle Cafe and then snorkeling further down the street at Ya-Cool. It was amazing to see where the ocean met the fresh water and all of the fish! We felt very safe in our location. We even met Kilo the military dog who’s posted to the area. We traveled outside the arch to dine at a less touristy and local Taco Mia for a delicious lunch. We had an unforgettable experience day tripping in Tulum, exploring the ruins, then we walked to the Playa Paradiso beach and had a healthy breakfast, then set up for the day at the El Paradiso Beach Club to rent a longing bed, umbrella and table and chair setup. We enjoyed the music, drinks, bathroom facilities and the gorgeous clear ocean.
Back at the condo we loved to enjoy a swim while looking out at the ocean. There were lounge chairs with grass umbrellas right in the beach. Highly recommend wearing water shoes as you enter the beach as it’s a bit rocky. We had fun hunting for shells and were rewarded with a huge Conch shell.
We would recommend the Playa Caribe for a magical vacation in Mexico! We’d live to return!

The condo was well prepared and staff were very attentive and friendly. Love the homely feel of the facilities. We’ll be back.

Great place and location. Condo was great for wife and I and two kids. Good size and right next to the pool and beach.
Rented bikes, car, drove to several places in within a 20 mile radius. easy and no issues at all. Locogringo concierge was very helpful.

Our stay at Playa Caribe was just the best. We were a group of 9 from 24 yrs to 88 yrs old. We had 3 first floor condos for our group and it was just perfect. Steps from the beach and snorkeling from the beach in front of the complex was the best. Always had a palapa and chairs if we wanted one and our group had 2 golf carts which we used everyday. The sun rise from our porch was spectacular every morning. The ocean view from the patio's was something we enjoyed looking at all day every day. The store across the street had all the snacks and liquor we needed and ice! We ate out every night and the restaurants were all top notch. Favorites being Turtle Bay Bakery & Cafe and La Cueva del Pescador! We had a private chef come in 2 nights for dinner and it was delicious food and they left the kitchen spotless. Augustine the office manager was extremely helpful with any questions or requests and helped translate when needed. The grounds/condos were so pretty and extremely clean. House keeping did an exceptional job every day. Everyone in our group had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back!

Great friendly helpful staff providing great service. Building is well maintained. Daily house keeping service. The only negative is the WiFi was kind of slow.

The rental was perfectly located on the ground level providing easy access to the patio, pool, and beach. The unit was clean, and plenty of room for the 5 of us.

Such a perfect place for our 5 day stay. The house had everything we wanted, was beautiful, and you can not beat being able to just walk out to the pool and beach. The staff (Augustine and Hilda) were so friendly and helpful. It was a windy week with the sargassum affecting the bay, but we just walked a little north to snorkel. Fab location near little markets and restaurants. Super clean and maintained area. Wish we could have stayed longer! We’ll be back!

My family and I had a terrific time in Akumal at this lovely condo at Playa Caribe. Not only was the condo lovely and perfect for our family, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The condo has two great-sized bedrooms and bathrooms and was comfortable for three adults and two children. Our four-year-old absolutely loved the pool, so much so that we could hardly get him out of it each evening. The area is quiet and beautiful, but just a short golf cart ride or walk to so much activity including cute stores, restaurants and excursions!Each day, we did one excursion in the morning and then spent the afternoon near the condo at the pool, beach or Buena Vida, the local beach restaurant near the condo. The lagoon was beautiful, but swimming with the turtles in Akumal Bay was definitely the highlight. A close second was the guided tour of the Cenote Santa Cruz.This was a vacation we will always remember!

My family and I stayed in unit #3 over the Easter holiday and we still talk about the wonderful time spent there. The condo is well furnished and is so convenient in many ways. One, you can drink the tap water without trepidation, two you are located on the ground floor aka pool level so there are no additional steps to walk up or down, three the reef off the beach is some of the best snorkeling you will find in the Caribbean, four you are in walking distance to two of the better restaurants in Akumal and five you can pedal your rental bikes into the village in a few minutes; we had so much fun using the flashlight as our headlight on our return to the condo each night!!! Ever run out of beer or tequila ? No problem here, the market is a 1 minute walk down the street. Our host, Joyce was very quick in communicating and gives you a very helpful cheat sheet package before arrival. The Augustin and his staff could not be any nicer and Hilda kept our place spotless daily. Don't forget to bring water shoes if you plan on going in the water since its very rocky and some are sharp. Thanks again Joyce.

We had a great family vacation in Unit #3! We were right on the beach and only steps from the pool. It's a great location for young children, young and older couples, and families alike. The area is quiet, romantic and peaceful. Full of nature! We left a snow storm behind, and could not have been happier!We walked to restaurants and the lagoon, and took taxis to further destinations. You don't need a car.There are 2 great bedrooms, each with it's own bath, and there is an outdoor shower and foot-wash after coming in from the beach. The kitchen is great for cooking family meals, and the unit was very clean.We loved waking up to the sounds and sights of the beautiful ocean each morning!We especially enjoyed sitting outside any time of day or night, swimming and going for shore walks. There were magnificent starry nights. It was a joy to be so close to nature! You will love it here!We can't wait to return!

We had a fabulous time at Playa Caribe and I feel badly that it's taken me so long to write a review. The location is wonderful. The ocean is so beautiful, the pool is lovely and the area is quiet and peaceful. It's calm, but not remote enough to be inconvenient. We walked to several restaurants and the lagoon. We walked to town at least twice as well. Other attractions (zip line park and several cenotes) were a short drive away. The property manager was friendly and helpful, the unit was clean and well maintained. All in all a great vacation. The owners were easy to contact. In fact, my husband left his jacket in Mexico and the owners arranged to have it mailed back to us. Very kind! I recommend this property without hesitation and hope to return someday soon. You will love it!

My husband and our two best friends stayed in Joyce's place for a pre-holiday vacation and absolutely fell in love. We all quite literally gasped when we walked in on the first day, the view is so spectacular. The apartment is open and airy and was a wonderful place to spend a week. We had many adventures including a trip to Chichen Itza, snorkeling in a cenote and dinner in a cenote restaurant in Playa del Carmen but we all agreed that our favorite activity was just spending time on the beach and in the pool. We went snorkeling every day in Half Moon Bay and got to see lots of sea turtles. Our favorite thing to do was to go and enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks at the Buena Vida restaurant just down the beach. It was a charming place with great service and really excellent food and drinks. The people who worked at Playa Caribe were also wonderful and helped us out whenever we needed it. My husband and I almost never go back to the same place twice because we love to explore new places but we can't wait to return to Playa Caribe!
